Immerse yourself in the study of Taoist philosophy and wellness.

Studying Taoism and taiji quan (tai chi) is an amazing way to enrich one's life with health, increase one's peace and happiness, and develop greater knowledge and wisdom of how to live in harmony with nature. Both one’s inner nature and the nature around us. There is a lot of information about Daoism that we can gain through books, or by reading on the Internet, but nothing compares to the actual experience of learning the Taoist way in its native land of China, taught by a Chinese Taoist Master. To study under a Taoist Master who is fluent in both Chinese and English is a rare opportunity and privilege for those wishing to learn more about Taoism, taiji, and traditional Chinese culture

  • L-type – Lüyou – tourist – up to 3 months; Issued to those who intend to visit China as a tourist.

  • F-type – Fangwen – visiting for cultural exchange – 1 to 6 months; Issued to those who intend to go to China for exchanges, visits, study tours and other activities.

If you'd like to stay in Wudang at the Academy, we suggest you request an X2 Visa.

Please check the nearest Chinese Embassy in your country or the website for any updated information.

You do not need an invitation letter for a tourist visa. However, for the X-type visa (to stay for three months) an acceptance letter is required.

For a USD 100 deposit, WTWA can send you a letter of invitation and (if necessary) an admission letter with a confirmation of the length of stay.

We will need the following details for the letter of invitation:

  1. Full name

  2. Gender

  3. Date of birth (DD/DD/YYYY)

  4. Nationality

  5. Passport document number

  6. Expected duration, including expected date of arrival

It is advisable to apply for a visa for the duration of your stay before traveling here. However, if you are unable to obtain a visa for the expected duration, we can assist you in extending your visa if necessary. Please remember to keep track of your visa's expiration date and apply for an extension with the help of the school promptly.

2) WHEN TO COME - COSTS
The WTWA is open year-round. There can, however, be a few different situations that you should consider. For example, from time to time, Master Gu can be invited to other places to give workshops.

For this reason, you must consider whether you wish:

a. 15,000 yuan/monthly ------ If taught by Master Gu and his assistant(s). Master Gu would teach about 70% of the whole content related to training and 100% of the content on cultural exploration. Around 30% of the training would be tutored by an assistant.

b. 20,000 yuan/monthly ------ If one insists on being taught totally by Master Gu

c. 10,000 yuan/monthly ------ If taught by another teacher (s) in the absence of Master Gu

d. 6,000 yuan/monthly ------ to attend the school, mainly attracted by the natural surroundings and ideal location, which gives easy access to the many Wudang Taoist temples and palaces. Or your primary purpose is finding peace and tranquility. You do not wish to take tai chi lessons or attend other classes. Of course, some people are in charge of general affairs, helping with your stay.

The price mentioned covers expenses for food, accommodation, and study at WTWA. There may be additional charges c/o the student for those who choose to stay off campus.

Weather: The most favorable time to visit in terms of weather would be from March to October, but it's difficult to generalize as some people might have only a winter break to travel or may prefer traveling during winter. The lowest temperature in this area during winters can be -5 degrees Celsius (23°F) while during summers, it can go up to 30°Celsius (86°F).
